Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What will I need to do to get married in the Cayman Islands?
A. The Cayman Islands Government has made it easy for visitors to get married and couples only need to provide a copy of their passports and landing slip following arrival in the island and provide original divorce documentation should this apply to either party. All the arrangements for the Minister and paperwork will be made by your wedding coordinator.

Q. If we get married in Grand Cayman, will it be legally recognized in our country?
A. Yes it is recognized all over the world. All you have to do is present a copy of the certified marriage certificate you receive from your Minister in Grand Cayman to your local authority along with the other necessary documentation to register your marriage.

Q. How many days do we have to be in Grand Cayman before we can get married?
A. If you plan to get married between Monday and Friday, you can arrive on the morning of the wedding and the license can be processed in time. If you plan to get married on a Saturday or Sunday you will need to be on island by noon the preceding Friday to enable the legal paperwork to be processed. Cruise ship passengers are able to get married on the day they arrive with the paperwork being taken care of prior to arrival.

Q. How many people can I have for my wedding at the Grand Cayman Beach Suites?
A. All of our venues for both ceremonies and receptions can accommodate up to 100 people comfortably.

Q. What do the Grand Cayman Beach Suites provide for wedding ceremonies and receptions?
A. As well as what is included in our wedding packages, the resort also provides tables, white garden chairs or banquet chairs for the ceremony or reception, white table cloths and napkins, silverware, glassware and ambient lighting on the Sun Terrace and beach where applicable. All our packages include set up fees and the services of a wedding coordinator including ceremony rehearsal time. Any other items like altar arches, bridal party flowers, centerpieces, entertainment and décor will come at an additional cost. All food and beverage must also be provided by the Grand Cayman Beach Suites and the use of third party catering companies is prohibited.

Q. How do I arrange for all the other items I would like for my wedding?
A. All you need to do is let your wedding coordinator know what you would like and we will take care of the rest, ensuring that we are keeping with your theme and budgetary requirements every step of the way.

Q. May I use outside vendors?
A. If you choose to approach a vendor directly for their services or choose to use a vendor not recommended by us, additional fees may apply. You can discuss this with your wedding coordinator in more detail.

Q. How many weddings do you have at the resort per day?
A. The resort only hosts one wedding per day so that the wedding coordinator is able to give you the undivided attention you deserve.

Q. How far is the Grand Cayman Beach Suites Resort from the airport and the cruise ship dock?
A. The resort is approximately 20 minutes from the airport and 10 minutes from the dock by taxi or car.

Q. Can we get married at sunset?
A. You can get married any time between the hours of 6 am and 7 pm.

Q. Can we get married on a Sunday?
A. Although it is possible to get married on Sundays, it is sometimes difficult to secure a marriage officer and the services of a minister are more expensive on Sundays. It is also a law in the Cayman Islands that no live music is permitted on a Sunday which rules out the possibility of an instrumental, band or DJ accompaniment to the celebrations.

Q. What is the average cost per person for food and beverage?
A. Based on our current banquet menus, you may expect to spend on average US $80 per person for lunch and US $150 per person for dinner, both of which are exclusive of service charge. These averages include hors d'oeuvres for your cocktail hour, a set option three-course plated meal or buffet, wine service with the meal, champagne toast and an open, hosted bar for the entire event, based on a moderate drinking group. Please be aware that our menu items and pricing are subject to change and your final menu pricing will be based on your actual selections, selection costs and final consumption.

Q. Are there special room rates for wedding guests?
A. For family and friends of the wedding party The Grand Cayman Beach Suites will be able to quote preferential rates for the duration of their stay through the wedding event. Group rates may be applicable for wedding bookings more than 10 guest rooms but these bookings require prior agreement and in some cases, a room guarantee contract.
