Cayman Brac Island Attractions
Cayman Brac is one of the three main Cayman Islands. It is located about 90 miles northeast of Grand Cayman. It is only 15 square miles in size, and its terrain is dominated by "The Bluff", a limestone outcrop that rises up to a maximum height of 140 feet above the sea.
At the peak of piracy in the Caribbean, Cayman Brac was a favoured haven, where supplies and fresh water could be found.
There are a lot of points of interest for divers around Cayman Brac including a Russian Koni class frigate built in the Soviet Union in 1984 for the Cuban Navy. It was bought and sunk by the Cayman Islands government in 1996. It is about 200m offshore and at a depth of 60m.
There are also many caves and some world class rock climbing, including over-vertical climbs. Walking and hiking and fishing are the other major activities on the island.
